Africa Diabetes Alliance Services

  • News: ADA documents and shares news about events, services and developments that are of use to people living with diabetes in Uganda and Africa at large.

  • Diabetes Education: ADA provides a safe space for learning about diabetes in a simplified, structured and holistic way that empowers people living with diabetes to make better management decisions and dispels the fear and powerlessness that the weight of a diabetes diagnosis often comes with.

  • Nutrition education: Nutrition is a big part of diabetes management since food is the biggest contributor to changes in blood glucose after insulin and we dedicate a large part of the day to feeding. Understanding food is a key element in successful diabetes management and we teach children and youth to make good food choices that support good blood sugar, productivity and health.

  • Peer Support: At ADA, we have walked a mile in the shoes of people who live with diabetes and believe in the power of peer support and community creation to provide acceptance, encouragement and emotionally uplift fellow sufferers to aid better management and adherence.

  • Stories: Experience is the best teacher. And sharing our stories with diabetes together gives us vast and varied learning opportunities and they help us to feel that we are not alone in this at all.
